FEATURED PROJECTS

(click to learn more)

In 2024, I returned to the Pacific Northwest after a three-year relocation to establish and enhance operations for an e-commerce company in the Austin metropolitan area.

From June 2020 to January 2024, I served as Creative Director at USAMM, the largest supplier of U.S. Armed Forces uniform accessories. In December 2021, I was promoted to Chief Operations Officer, where I successfully managed dual executive responsibilities for two years.

My role included developing and evaluating marketing and content strategies, resolving complex workflow and interpersonal challenges, and addressing technology-based end-user needs. These efforts supported infrastructure improvements, enhanced operational efficiency, and strengthened the organization's ability to meet customer and stakeholder expectations.

LIFESTYLE BRAND DEVELOPMENT

I led copywriting, pre-production, filming, and post-production for crucial ad campaigns that redefined the brand’s tone and voice. These projects ranged from large-scale productions with six-figure budgets and a full support team to lean, self-driven campaigns executed with minimal resources.

FEATURE FILM WITH DAKOTA MEYER

In January 2023 I began directing, producing, filming, and editing a feature-length documentary hosted by Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, about military veterans with exceptional life stories. In November 2023 Who We Serve had a limited theatrical release.

Whether managing high-profile tentpole features, agile social media initiatives, or digital product experiences - I consistently delivered impactful content tailored to diverse audiences and objectives.

CRISIS COMMUNICATION

PROBLEM:
In 2021, while establishing a new fulfillment center in Texas, COVID-19 triggered a sudden Department of Defense policy shift around uniform inspections, causing widespread frustration among service members and significant disruptions in the uniform market. Inventory, staffing, and forecasting became unstable.

SOLUTION:
My team responded with clear, direct communications via newsletters, CEO-led video updates, and website banners, keeping tens of thousands of service members informed and reassured throughout a three-month DOD-wide resolution process. As COO during this time, I prioritized transparent communication to align teams and stabilize operations, leveraging this opportunity to also strengthen internal processes.

OUTCOMES:

  • Reversed negative brand perception caused by COVID-19 and the DOD policy changes.

  • Increased customer satisfaction, brand affinity, and product diversity through lifestyle branding.

  • Successfully launched the new Texas fulfillment center, personally conducted 300+ hiring interviews in six months.

  • Developed SOPs, updated HR practices, and supported the coordination of this company-wide public health crisis response.

  • Built a leadership team, onboarded essential staff, and reinforced company culture; ultimately improving retention rates.

  • Oversaw city code compliance and managed contractors for electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, ensuring seamless operations.

This experience sharpened my ability to clearly communicate complex, evolving situations, fostering transparency and trust during periods of high public scrutiny.

RELISH DIVISION

From 2018 - 2020, I worked as Associate Producer & Post-production Project Manager at the culinary creative agency Relish Division in Portland Oregon. We produced social shorts, recipe videos, stop motion animation, boutique photography, and integrated digital campaigns. I edited more than 100 pieces of short-form content in this period of time.

This team was agile, deliberate, and kinetic. It was my responsibility to conduct manual image corrections, video stabilization, and output for delivery. Ingesting, logging, transcoding, and editing on tight deadlines was the baseline expectation for this position. I was the go-to team-member for audio production/ restoration and story development.

I was ASC Cinematographer Bradley Sellers’ Lead Editor and Assistant Camera Operator. Clients included Kitchenaid, Bob’s Red Mill, FINEX, Zupan’s Market, West Village Farms, and more.

MARKETING CAMPAIGN | BOB’S RED MILL

    • Create a multi-platform, 10-week campaign to increase brand visibility and engagement for Bob’s Red Mill.

    • Collaborate with influencers, cookbook authors, and James Beard Award winners to reach new audiences.

    • Drive urgency and recurring traffic through weekly recipe videos and a cookbook giveaway.

    • Produced and edited all 10 recipe videos, maintaining brand consistency and quality.

    • Enhanced SEO and audience engagement by pairing each video with a dedicated blog post on Bob’s Red Mill’s website.

    • Increased brand visibility by leveraging the reach of influencers and award-winning chefs.

    • Sustained high audience interaction throughout the campaign, driving traffic and expanding Bob’s Red Mill’s online presence.

THE REFUGEE CENTER

PROYECTO HABESHA

From 2015 - 2018, my primary client was The Refugee Center. As a freelancer I filmed and edited more than 3 dozen pieces of content ranging from promotional, educational, nonfiction, live event, and fundraising.

The Refugee Center (now USAHello) is a national nonprofit dedicated to helping immigrants and refugees connect with the necessary resources they need to succeed in the United States.

Village to Village is a 2016 snapshot of the arrival and first six months of Syrian students and the peace worker who brought them to Mexico, redefining education advocacy.

The students arrived through Proyecto Habesha, a growing non-profit founded by Adrián Meléndez and sponsored by the UNHCR. By 2023, it evolved into a multi-faceted international education relief network supporting over 100 students in Mexico.

UNSTATED | INDEPENDENT FILM

In 2016 I received the inaugural Andries Deinum Award for Visionaries. This $10,000 cash award is the largest of its kind ever given by Portland State University’s College of the Arts. As the first recipient (and a nontraditional student), I had to set the standard and deliver my project on time for a massive screening at the university. I had to also set a standard for scale, scope, and ethical intention. This generous grant allowed me to produce my first independent investigative documentary UNSTATED - A Refugee Resettlement Story in an Unsettled America. This film went on to have several successful screenings throughout the country and is now used by Catholic Charities to assist in the training of volunteers who work with new arrivals.

USAMM

From 2010 - 2015 I was the Media Production Manager for the e-commerce/ military contractor USAMM. With 3 direct reports, this self-made position was my first foray into multimedia management. Producing branded media, I traveled the country interviewing dozens of military veterans from WWII through active duty service.

I worked with animators and motion graphics artists to produce engaging content for a critical and detail-oriented audience - the U.S. Armed Forces.

When I am not behind a computer or a camera - I am running, playing guitar, or enjoying time outdoors with my wife Nadia and our son Oliver.
